HOW WE’LL WORK
How we’ll work. Calm, clear next steps.
Parent sessions are a place to step back and look at the whole picture: your child’s needs, your own reactions and what is happening at home.
We work on practical tools you can use that week, and we make room for how hard parenting can feel. I draw on attachment-based work, so we focus on connection as well as behavior.

Can I get parenting support if my child is not in therapy?
Yes. Parents can meet with Erika on their own to talk through a child’s behavior, emotions or a family change. Sometimes parent sessions are all a family needs. Other times they help decide whether a child would benefit from their own therapy. Sessions are available in Hermosa Beach or online.
Can both parents come to parent sessions?
Yes. Both parents or co-parents are welcome to attend parent sessions together, in person in Hermosa Beach or online. Coming together can help you get on the same page about what your child needs and how to respond at home. Erika can also meet with each parent separately when that works better.
How do parent sessions work if my child also sees Erika?
When a child or teen is in therapy with Erika, parents are part of the work. Parent check-ins cover progress, patterns Erika notices and ideas to try at home, while respecting the child’s or teen’s privacy. How often these happen depends on the child’s age and needs.
Is parent support the same as a parenting class?
No. Parenting classes teach general skills to a group. Parent support with Erika is individual. It focuses on your child, your family and your own stress, and it adapts from week to week. It is a therapy service provided by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
